Background Remover

Remove a solid-color background from a photo right in your browser and download a transparent PNG. This tool is not AI subject detection: it reads the background color at the corners of your photo and clears connected pixels that match it. It works best on plain, even backgrounds. Your photo never leaves this page.

Low values only clear colors very close to the background. Raise it slowly if edges are left behind.

How to use it

  1. Choose a photo, drop one in, or paste a direct image link and click Fetch.
  2. Set the tolerance. Start low and raise it only if background edges remain.
  3. Click Remove background, check the preview on the checkerboard, then download the transparent PNG.

Tips for a clean cut-out

  • Plain, evenly lit backgrounds cut out far better than busy rooms or skies.
  • If the subject shares the background color, that part may be cleared too. Lower the tolerance and try again.
  • For a thumbnail, place the cut-out over a bold color with the Thumbnail Generator.
